I've been wondering how accurate the water temperature gauge is in these cars, what temperature the marks represent and where it should sit in regular driving.
I've replaced the thermostat, removed the A/C condensor and aux fan and it still gets hot when copping a thrashing. During normal city driving it will sit at the half way mark, even sitting at traffic lights on a hot day it doesn't go much higher. When copping a beating it goes all the way up to 3/4 and beyond, so I will have to back off and keep the revs down for a couple of minutes. Is this normal, or should I think about getting a new radiator and water pump or at least try flushing the coolant system and maybe giving it another bleed?
