Lap of Tassie - Friday 2nd November Long Weekend

If you're interested in doing a Lap of Tassie, now is the time!

We are heading down on the Spirit of Tasmania during the Cup weekend, so for us Victorian's (who take the Monday off regardless) its not too much time out of work. For the rest of you guys, guess you just gotta take time off work

Who: Anyone and Everyone who wants to come is invited, friends and family, as long as they enjoy driving.
What: To do a Lap of Tassie.
    Where: Tasmania obviously
When: November 2nd is the start of the weekend. That's when the ferry leaves Melbourne and arrives in Devonport on Saturday 3rd, when the driving fun begins. We come back to Melbourne on Tuesday the 6th, on the 730pm run back to Melbourne, which lands at 6am on Wednesday 7th.
Why: Why not? Its something myself and a few others have wanted to do, so now we are doing it.
How: via the ferry first, then do a lap, then the ferry back

    Basic Itinerary:
Friday 2nd November: Board the Spirit of Tasmania on the 7:30pm boarding. The ferry sails overnight and we get to Devonport at 6am.
Saturday 3rd November: We leave Devonport and head towards St Helens, stopping in George Town for breakfast.
Sunday 4th November: From St Helens we head towards Hobart.
Monday 5th November: We depart Hobart and head towards Strahan
Tuesday 6th November: We leave Strahan and head towards Devonport to catch the 7:30pm boarding on the ferry and head back to Melbourne overnight
Wednesday 7th November: Arrive Melbourne 6am and head to work

    Costs?
The ferry, at the moment, was just over $700 for myself, return trip. Thats the car and a basic room. You can share a room, or get a deluxe room, or just an ocean recliner. Cars go for $85, and the range of accommodation is priced from around $150 up to $600 for the deluxe cabin.
Each day, I suspect there would be almost a full tank of fuel. We will be doing anywhere between 3-400km's a day, so for some of us, that's a tank a day. If not, then you might fill up a half tank or so. Accommodation around Tassie would be maybe $100 a day? I am yet to compile a list of places to stay in each town, but the most important thing at the moment is to book the ferry. Food and drink for the weekend would again maybe be around $100 a day?

If you've always wanted to head down to Tassie, and you love your driving, then this is the trip to come on. This isn't confined to ECCA members either, so you can bring anyone else you want as a driver or passenger. We'll be doing around 4-5 hours of driving a day so there will be time to have a look around the place too.

Please ask if you have any questions

    Confirmed to go:
    • Tom
    • Hulk and Wasp (Frank and Dee)
I'll update the confirmed list as people let me know they have booked the ferry.

You shoul take a look at the Targa Tasmania route and try and follow that.

You should also include Baskerville, Symons Plains and Longford

The Longford pub is a must, lots of interesting stuff about the glory days of the Longford track.

So far we have four cars coming. Myself (M3), Frank (M3), Doug (5er wagon), Made (Z3 M Coupe) and we are still working on two more to come. If the Tassie members are coming, please let me know where you're going to meet us?

    Hi guys,

Was pointed here from another forum, but looks like my mate and I will be on the same ferry as you guys heading across . We are not going in your direction though and is heading back a day early.

I've met Frank before at a previous Melbourne meet so if I see you guys I'll come up and say hi.
