Welcome Vin! Glad to see you finally in a Bimmer! Leave it as is with that kit/wheels IMO - it looks hot.
I know that car too - I used to work with the guy who used to own it![]()
No seriously I do.
Just hollering out to you all since I've been a "member" for a while but never actually posted. Holy crap I just checked my join date and it was 2 years ago! Very much overdue.
To summarize, I've owned probably 9 cars since I got my license a decade ago, mainly jap cars until recently. From audio specific cars to a greddy turbo'd civic to a fairly worked s14.5 and now to euros. In the past 3 years I've had a
- 98 W202 Mercedes Benz (AMG mockup)
- 98 B5 Audi A4T (chip, exhaust, 19's, etc)
...and now
- 99 E46 BMW 318.
The new beast has as far as I can see 19" Hartge wheels, Hamman style lip kit, AC snitchzer exhaust tip or muffler and dumped to the ground on who knows what springs. The car only has 75,000kms on the clock and overall very close to showroom condition. At first I didn't mind the way it drove until I discovered that the thumping sound heard in the rear is actually not normal and I could be up for new driveshaft/diff/subframe components. I guess I'll found out later this week when the car goes in for a service at BM Autowerks. Otherwise I'm fairly happy with the car and plan to swap the front bar for an M3 or CSL style, install a Dynavin TV unit, maybe some dish wheels, eibach springs, and if I keep the car longer than I expect, may look into an engine swap or turbo. Being a new home owner will definitely slow things down though

Welcome mate, car looks great.
But must say loved the look you had going with the 202
Not liking the sounds of that thump from the rear on a car with such lowered springs, hope all is well and no body repair's are ness.
Cheers
Thanks for the nice words. Car is at BM Autowerks getting serviced and other things fixed. Looks like I don't have the subframe issue and the thudding between gearshifts was a fcked diff mount...fingers crossed.
Yeah the 202 was actually one of my favourite cars despite being a complete slug (previous owner put a pod filter on and it just sucked in hot air from the exhaust manifold wtf seriously). Seat heaters...best invention ever.
welcome mate, nice list of cars! you dont find it annoying going to turboed civics and s14s to 318's?
e46 looks good though, and the dynavins now got rubber knobs so it looks even more like the factory unit!
actually the chipped audi had more balls than the civic...especially when i had the cat gutted out. car sounded really nice too with loud turbo whistle and dv audible. it's funny coz i went from a fairly quick s14 (s15 motor and gbox, set up for drift) to a granny spec mercedes to couldn't beat barina's and then to an audi with good daily driving power now to another granny spec bmw. it is painful in a way but considering how each car was set up, i guess i needed that break from rough (read:coilovers) high maintenance cars. the bimmer is nice and easy to drive and looks nice so i can't complain ...too much.
welcome Vin - wow its an interesting mix of cars you have owned - reckon a 2j would be at home in a 318![]()

blast from the past, yeah i was on mccr... The forum is still up isn't it?? Just nothing much goes on there
nah the forums are now a distant memory. firesport is still functioning though.
How's this for a coincidence.... turns out my mate is good friend's with the first owner of my car. apparently some well off guy who threw money at the car when he had it...for 2 months! he had his car confiscated by his sister on behalf of his parents after doing poorly in uni hahaha i'm feeling pretty damn happy with the bimmer knowing it's history now.
Welcome Vin,
think I've seen you round other forums.
Love the W202. You wouldn't happen to know where to get a set of monoblocs would ya?![]()

Yeah I used to be on the ozaudi forums when i had my a4. i miss the power of the chipped 1.8t!
Are you after authentic ones or will replicas do? you haven't tried tempe tyres? there's a place in melbourne called Advance Tyres that do replicas for a good price. I'm sure they might ship em to syd...
