Before you look at the stalk, can you hear the pump working in situ ?? When you tested the pump did it actually actually pump water or did you just observe the motor spinning around?
Hi all,
Having some problems with my windscreen washer jets - ie no water coming out. I have removed the washer jet motor and connected to an external power supply and it seems to be working fine. I have also looked for a fuse for the wiper jets but can't seem to find one.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be causing the jets to not work? Could it be the swith on the stalk?
Cheers

Ben.
Sorry I should have been a bit more clear. I pulled the pump out of the water bottle and connected it directly to the battery and it worked fine (ie observed it spinning).
Once I put it back in it's place and connected it to the original power supply it doesn't spin/pump regardless of whether there is water in the bottle or not, hence why I'm thinking it's the stalk or something in the connection.

Most likely a connection issue. If you tested it externally, then check your wiring. It wont draw enough amps to blow a fuse and cos its insulated, won't short. Has to be a connection.
Not knowing what model you have this is what I came across. At the bottom of the windscreen washer bottle is a tiny strainer (can be removed, looks like a thimble) through which the washer fluid must run before getting to the pump mine was clogged after I removed all the "sludge" the littke buggers worked fine again. This is on a E46 318i.Hope this helps.
