    15-17L/100km - city driving.
    7-9L/100km - freeway

My city driving might suggest I need do some work on the engine, but then again it might be normal. My average speed over the last six months is ~23km/hr. When other people post their consumptions - to get a more complete picture - I'd be interested to see what their average speeds are.

"89" 318i. Daily commute of 25 kms round trip using 95 octane and averaging 70kph uses 6 litres to the 100 km's. If i fill it right up to the top i can get a 100k's before the the needle moves. I get into the fives on a trip thanks to my 2.93 diff. Love my Beemer.

I have been averaging approximately 15l/100Km in the e39, for mostly city driving with an average speed similar to yours.
Drops to 10-12 for long trips.
Just had the PCV valve replaced and average immediately dropped to under 13l/100Km with a corresponding increase in responsiveness. It's only been one day, but I'll keep an eye on this. Wish I'd done this sooner!
The X5 typically averages around 18-19 l/100Km for mostly short trips, but averaged 12 on a trip to Warrnambool over the weekend.

Hey, I'm glad you posted about doing the PCV valve, that's exactly what I've been thinking about doing.(That and replacing my O2 sensors) Keen to see what your thoughts are after a few more days. I'm very close to getting it done, I also feel fixing that might help lower my oil consumption. It's not terrible, but I find I'm giving it a little top up every 5 weeks or so.
Also looking at you car in sig, I'm wondering what springs you're running on? I've got Eibachs that are too low, I'd like to find another spring. And how did you get your indicator lenses clear instead of yellow - the ones that are part of the head lights?

My fuel consumption makes me sad

    13-14 l/100km From an E36 2.5 M50.

Manual, with 3.93 diff, driven only around town very conservatively, 180,000k's on the clock.
