Very sad for all involved
I guess it shows that all that skill and experience still doesn't guarentee your safety when high speeds are involved....
This is terrible news.

For a second I thought I'd driven on that highway (Number 410, though in the accident video the marshal mentions 'vier und neunzig, meaning 94 - there is an L94 road which runs from Highway 410 to Nürburg)!

Highly unlikely he ran out of skill. At 67 and doing something albeit enjoyable but potentially stressful/ adrenalin creating, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a medical thing.

I'd be more inclined to say that something on the car broke. I can't imagine toyota would let their top test driver out if he had a potentially life threatening medical condition. You never know though!
whatever it was, atleast is a was a meaningful death. at that age, he didnt had much left, and he died in his greatest creation.
RIP.
in saying that, the 3 series is safer.
