M division model for BMW 1 Series confirmed

Hi guys, this is my first post here!

Just read an article that BMW was going to release an M car for the 1 Series lineup - although I'm not that much of a fan of the styling, a tuned version of the 135i's engine sounds pretty good to me!

    Full article is here:

Yessss so the rumours are true! I am very much looking forward to this car - I love the 1 coupe styling, and with some m bits on it, it will be the titties!

Welcome Jebroni, an excellent first post in my opinion Make sure to pop over to the welcome desk to tell us a bit about yourself and your car(s). Picsorban rule will no doubt apply hehe

Can't help but think it will undercut the M3, which is a good thing, the 1 series seems to be a shootback to the small three series of yesteryear

Just found some spy shots of the new BMW 1 M model undergoing testing in Europe, I think they are a couple of days old now but if anyone hasn't seen them check them out:

Its the same link as before but I believe it has been updated. The shots themselves don't look too bad, although it doesn't quite have the same visual impact as the M3 for me.

I really like it. Definitely something to aspire to for when I have finished my honours at uni next year!

does anyone else think they might be tripping over them selves?
surley the 1 series has more potential than the current M3
will this result in a ;uke warm roadcar, so it dsnt spoil the M3s party?

As long as it's a real M and not some marketing ploy like the X5M it should be good.

M cars are supposed to be built by engineers, not the marketing department.

Have you seen this thing? It's an engineers play toy!

NOT from the the BMW ///M Technical Meeting:
"What should we do about suspension? Should we compromise on track width and travel to suit the 1's styling"

"Nah f**k that let's get the wider M3 rear axle and front suspension and drop it in, stick some fat arches on it and CSL wheels"
    ...
    ...
    ...
"Any objections?" - "Let's do it!"

It does look and sound a better spec than I though it would be. Prob better xar than a 135i with 20k of mods thrown at it. More insurable and with warranty also. Looks like a winner
