The idea here was a very budget supercharge install on the m42.
Step 1 was to install an AEM fic Piggyback to control fuel & retard - and most importantly enable me to remove the AFM. I spent a LOT of time plotting the AFM voltages relevant to MAP pressure and making up a custom map for the m42. Theres inherit problems with replicating an AFM signal using a MAP, but in the end i got it to a stage i'm happy with. Had to ditch the idle up valve. I ran it like this for many months n/a while i put together a few more bits and pieces.
Also got some larger 315cc injectors and put them in.
Purchased a toyota sc14 supercharger and went about making some brackets and fabricating the inlet & outlet. I wanted to retain the A/C so have mounted it all above the alternator.
My initial pulley had far too much flex and shredded the belt completely. So Allan was kind enough to machine a new one up. It came out perfectly and i estimated would give me somewhere between 6 & 8 psi.
I Am currently still in the tuning stage. I have a nice rich / drivable base map that i am happy with and now i can start leaning & upping the timing.
I Also have the water injection setup to fine tune . to reduce intake temps & as a bit of detonation insurance.
The charger produces a constant 7-8 psi from almost idle. Even on the inital maps i have made the low end torque is greatly increased, making it a much more pleasant car to drive.
Still a bit to do & tidy up. The bypass valve is quite noisy for some reason, so will try an old vr4 one i've got in the shed.
Thanks to mecmw & ajohnstone1 for help & inspiration along the way.

still some tidying to do but its nice to have it working..

seems even the 315cc injectors arent enough 70% duty cycle at 5k rpm. Still 2k to go.
stock were 214cc
Might have to rev-limit it until i can find some bigger ones.
good effort!
thanks. Have learned a lot from the install.

Nice work, it's amazing how much room there is in the e30 engine bay once the afm/airbox is removed.
How does the car drive with the throttle mounted after the blower? Does it "burst" off the line when you first open the throttle or is it nice and tame?

RIP e30Bring on the boost with the S/C e34 535i
Great work! Looks heaps easier than my turbo installAnd I'm pretty sure thats what my old man said before we embarked on it
Will be good to see what you get power/torque wise. Those injectors should just about support 8 psi or so on an M42. Guess you will find out when you are tuning the top end. But 70% is nothing to worry about.
Staying tuned for more
Nice mate. Looks like its meant to be there (perhaps it is?).
The 2 stage throttle - which i used to hate - seems to be helping me out here . At part throttle when the small throttle is opening its nice and smooth for takeoffs etc. But once throttle is mashed and the larger throttle opens the fun starts.
saw more like 88% injector at close to 6k today. Don't really want to push it much more than that.
Have slowly been putting more timing back into it day by day and it keeps getting better.
quick screenshot of a 2nd gear pull today. Dark green is the AFR. Light blue is throttle. Running very rich at the topend to see when the injectors max..

seem to have lost the last few posts so here we go again..
Have been putting together a turbo kit for the m42 over the past month or so. Just started putting it all together.
Some of the bits:

good work on the s/c - why the change of heart to turbo so soon?
