    R.I.P Rusty

For those fairly knowledgable in their overseas Beemers, Rusty a very iconic E28 has just passed away, more can be read here

Was such a nice car and sad to see it come to an end

I'll give it credit for becoming such a world wide reknown car, but personally i cant understand why it did

It was a totalled car, deemed unroadworthy, that got a set of wheels anyone would kill for and a rusty paint job, or removal of paint

I guess to stand out and get attention you need to be different, and this rings true

Plus i have had a laugh at all the ones that have tried following it, with the rusted or even copper oxidized look

I wont miss the car, but i will greatly appreciate the ability it had to produce a new style of theme for a car, and the way it started new websites, friends, blogs etc

Yeh, I don't 'get' the so-called 'rat-look' either. Immaculate is my thing.

I dont have a prob with painting a car in a similar fashion, still considering it.

Its like saying that you laugh at someone who puts BBS wheels on a BMW because someone else has done it before.

Horses for courses and naturally I wouldnt do that to a good car but I think or an old sh1tter its just something different to doing a BMW in DS etc.

credit is due for being one of the more reknown cars out there in that style, and the combination of all parts did give it a unique good look

the closest thing i would get to something like that would be my next Datsun 1600, i want it modified properly in suspension/brake handling dept and i will sacrifice working time on the body to do that, plus i've never dealt with body work, but even then, it would be a temp thing until i could get around to fixing the body
