oh shit thats this weekend coming, im no chance.

do sandown do t&t days during the week. I really wouldnt mind doing some when further developing suspension and brakes. besides in winter for me at least its easier to do than the weekends.

Iv been to a lot of PIARC days at the Island. Its called driver training so you do like 5 20 - 25mins sessions untimed.

Its a very well run day and never any problems. Iv done about 8 Saturdays and I did one Sunday last year.

Sundays are part of the Group5/super sprint series. You dont get as much track time as a Saturday but it is racing.

If you just want to get laps in like me (Im only 19 and have a lot to learn, unlike most of you who have a few years on me) get down there on a Saturday. They also have instructors there who are free and more than willing to help. (Improved production, 944, saloon cars, GTP drivers etc with lots of experience and have helped me a heap)

Well it was a great day at Winton. Warm, sunny and still.

Mr black behaved very well, quite pleased nothing broke and everything worked as planned.
I was having some ICV troubles, so late last night I replaced it with a piece of 3/8 hose with a alloy reducer stuck in the middle with a 3mm hole in the middle. Idles perfect for a 10 min 'ahh crap' fix.

No timing on a T&T day, except for the old man and his iphone. Pretty happy I guess with fastest being 1:46's for first time at Winton in a full fat road E30. Many good sessions with a bunch of Lotus 7 clones

A question about the track..... Whats the story with gear changing at Winton..
Seems I pretty much spent the whole circuit in 3rd gear, with the exception of the tight left hander (turn 10) that takes you down the 'long track' extension to the front straight where you also grab fourth. I was testing a few things out, going back to second for those 3 hairpin bits at the back (turns 7, 8 and 9), but second is really a bit high rpm, when you can go around in 3rd relatively well.
Third seems just a LITTLE too short though, as I was hitting rev limiter maybe 30m before turns 3, 10, 11 and just about on the lmiter through 5 and 6... Is this how you E30 dudes normally do it?
I could change from 3-4 between turns 10 - 11 but I couldn't really see the extra speed. Turns 11 and 12 were 3rd gear for me and they seemed pretty open really. A lot of corners are what, pretty late apexy? seems faster that way for me... not I really know, such a newb..

I reckon I had turns 1-5 pretty nailed, seemed to carry heaps of speed through them compared to the majority of other folks.

Anyway, for $120 such a bargain. Not very busy, lots and lots of track time. highly recommend taking the day off work!

What diff ratio are you running? In E30 Racing Cars (with 3.91:1 and 205/50R15 Tyre), we use:
    4th down the main straight
    3rd at T1, T2
4th (pretty much on the exit kerb from T2)
    3rd for T3, T4
    4th into T5 (sweeper), T6 (right kink)
3rd for T7, T8, T9 (cleavage, 2nd is too close to rev limiter)
    4th
3rd for T10 (Northern BM Hairpin)
    4th
    3rd for T11, T12.

pretty certain I have a 3.91 and am running same size tire.

re 4th in T5/6.. is that for more speed than 3rd (duh?) or lower revs. I think I need a bit more practice or bravery for 4th for more speed through 5/6!
