Can you two just agree to disagree...? Lol
Because you base your opinions on what you read, not real world experience.
Like the i30 diesel, claiming 13.7 0-100.
What to do now, here is a claimed 11.6.
http://carshowroom.autotrader.com.au...52604520080802
As for claiming that if you put your foot down "it'll only go a fraction quicker, make lots of noise and blow lots of smoke" that is a joke mate, seriously.
My sister has had both petrol and diesel i30s so i speak from experience, not what I have read.
As a daily I would take the diesel ANY day over the petrol for the consumption advantage and due to the torque, I dont think there is a massive difference in performance and once you get used to the charateristics of the diesel its more than enough as a daily.
But as we all know, we are all entitled to opinion.
You base yours on what you read
I base mine on reality,
So would you say a 300kw HSV is a faster car than an R35 GTR with only a claimed 206kw lol

Can you two just agree to disagree...? Lol
Its all good, Phil is entitled to an opinion.
Hey those Genesis's are a hot looking bit of kit though, hey

I got the 13.7 secs time from the old farts at the NRMA's 'open road' which happened to be on the my desk earlier. I just checked and it's also avaliable online. You can see the figures here:
http://www.mynrma.com.au/cps/rde/xch...rison-test.htm
They actually did a road test on the vehicle. I couldn't find any indication from DTM's link that the 11.6 time had come from writers own actual testing. Regardless, 11.6 secs is still not "very swift".
The people at the NRMA who found a 13.7 sec time still thought it had good performance. I guess it's like religion, people will believe what they want to believe regardless of the evidence.
Telling someone that it's "my experience" therefore my opinion is based on reality is not a very good way to present information. Decisions in a court of law are not made on a individual persons claim to experience because it cannot be seen as reality without any evidence.
Looking at published road tests where the people involved actually tested the acceleration, looking at the power outputs and looking at the weight is a more acurate judgment than taking someones word that the car in question is "pretty swift".
For the scepic person who might say there is no way to verify these facts - well at the very least, presenting facts in this manner is not in anyway, of less value than one's personal opinion.
For people's differing opinions on whats slow and whats "very swift", it would be pretty easy to work out what a average car in that segment achieves by finding the figures for each car. To make the I30 "very swift" it would need to be well above the mathematical average time, so assuming we used the 11.6 time, the majority of competitors would need to be slower than that. Given that most cars in that segment weigh less and have over 100KW, that is very unlikely. Of course if the i30 was found to be slower than average, people could simply say "oh every car in that segment is way too fast" - probably the opinion of the NRMA and would appear to be that of many people in this discussion.

it's not all output and efficiency though champ. anyone can copy and paste, thats what i dont like about your argument.
It's not a court of law, its a bunch of car enthusiast talking about cars, all sorts of cars.
Road tests are fantastic, if you want simple crap.
it comes back to the P76. road test and on paper, they looked great. biggest ******* heap of crap ever built. it can go the other way too.
all the people i know who have Hyundai's have had very little problems out of them. that makes them a good car in my opinion. **** that, that just goes to show they're reliable and would make them a good car in any ones opinion. Even the almighty NRMA.
You didn't answer my original question's either.
Gooooone
