The VIN thread

Saw this on another forum. We have some members who can get VIN #'s decoded to list options etc, which is particularly useful when looking to buy a used car.

I thought it might be useful to have a seperate thread where people can post the VIN and the reason and those members with access could periodically log on and provide the details.

Not to be used for random VIN# checks, only for your own car or car you are serious about buying, so that we don't dump a huge amount of work on the guys who can provide this service.

I believe that this information is only available to BMW dealers and internally, so unlikely they will be able to post a link?

As Spiro stated, it can only be accessed internally. There is no link for this, it's a program as far as I know. When I was looking for my car, I was in contact with a rep for BMW who provided me with service histories, standard/additional options lists, where the car was sold through, the actual production date.

Very helpful when you want to know some of the finer details about it.

The dealer VIN Decoder will be able to provide MUCH more info than this including options.
