Why don't you set the fans up as pushers in front of the radiator?

Thats what I had to do. You could even get rid of the engine fan altogetehr if you wanted.

I agree with Andrew on the pusher fans..

I have a head of unknown origons but it looks to have been repaired or something. I have no idea why we still have it to be honest. I can PM you pics if you want but yeh, might not be the best base for you.

Ye thats what i was thinking of doing. the problem is the fans i have are as wide as the radiator. I'd have to get the tape out to get the right size but it's about twice or more then the 2002 one.

Thanks for the offer mate, but i don't want to risk it. If i can't get a good one i'll just have to spend the $$$$ and fix the one i have.

While i'm trying to find a head i may as well get some other stuff done. The rear brakes are one on the list, along with putting the battery in the boot. Looks like i'll have to pull the motor too, so i can put some stronger engine mounts in. I'm told the toyota hilux ones fit.

    I'll keep every one posted.

    cheers

Mine's a Supercheap special that I think is for a Falcodore. I figured if it works on one of those it should keep the s14 cool. It fits perfectly ( top to bottom)in the space forward of the radiator hole.

Ye thats what i will have to do i think. i'll wait till i have a working motor before i go doing all of that.

In other news i have the wheel cylinders so the rear brakes might go on on sunday. so at least it wont need a brick behind it to stop it rolling away. I think it's only had front brakes for over 2 years! i think the pads might be a little sad up front.

    cheers

I've been trying to get this back on the road for so long now. It's been 6 months after the head blew and i still haven't got it back! Not happy but i've been trying to fill in the time by fixing other little things on it.

The first was putting the seats from my e21 in it. There was no need for the e21's seats anymore, it will have race ones when it's done. No real dramas putting them in, i did however have to change the tracks. The e21 and 02 have different seat adjustment on them. The e21s is on a different angle so the 02's handle didn't stop it from moving back or forward. That was easy, but i did get my self on a sharp edge.

Shitty photo i know, but i couldn't be stuffed taking the car cover off to get it form the other side where i can get the door all the way open.

Any one have some tan/light brown 2002 door trims they want to sell? or a tan/light brown rear seat back. The top is black (sprayed) and the bottom is tan/light brown

Keeping with the interior work i put a stereo in. The head uni was a new one i got for $145 at JB HI-FI. I got it because it's MP3 like the one in my galant, and i couldn't go back to just normal cds. The electrics in this car are all over the place and not much is where it should be. I used the power supplie that my cuz used when he had it, but i have to put a new line in for when the car is running. No big deal but i now have to turn the player off when i get out as it doesn't go off with the ignition. I used the speakers that where stock in the galant, and i remember why i took them out now! The back ones were easy, i just have to make the holes in the back a little bigger to fit the 6" speaker from what looked like a 5" before.

It's a much neater hole when the one before, even if the ends are bent over like that.

The front was a little different, as i can't cut into the body (one of the things my uncle told me i can't do) so i couldn't put the fronts where most 02 owners put them in the doors or just in front of them in the kick panel. I had to make them fit into the center console. Not the best for sound design but it works.

I couldn't help but put staples there i couldn't get the gun in behind to put them in.

I had to make the cover for the hole. It has a shelf that the head unit sits on. This is cover with vinyl and some foam. The speaker grill is one from the speakers i put in the galant, i didn't need them as the stoke ones fitted over the new speakers. The speakers them selves are mounted on bits of roof tin! lol a bit 'different' but it work. The ash try has been given the boot, i smoke so i don't need one. The hazard light switch is new where the cigar lighter was. It just needed to be drilled out a little and it fitted.

Now to the most difficult thing i had to make. With the boot lock not working i thought i might make a cable release for it. Sounded easy but it took about 3 days to make! The handle is from a galant (i like to work with what i know works) i picked that up from the wreckers when i was getting bits for the galant. I when and bought 5 meters of cable and some sheath to cover it. The cable was $8 and the sheath was $35!! Any way i also had to put a longer leaver on the lock. Dad took care of that and make it look almost stock, even used bolts from a bent 2002 boot lid i have! lol

Heres the stet up at the drivers end. i think it looks almost stock, i should link something up to the fuel tank one, hmmm and ejector seat!

Heres what it looks like at the boot end. The coper pipe was an off cut that was shaped over a big bit of steal pipe. It is adjustable so if the cable stretches or should i say when it does i can make it tighter.

From the out side i don't think you'd know that it was a bolt and washer until you get up close.

The hand brake still is not working but i have to make some new mounts for it. the OG ones are totally fooked.

I now have to get a locking fuel cap. Who knows what one is worth or should i get one for a bike and make that fit. i thinking i might go the bike one if i can't get a BMW one for cheap.

Also going to get some lowered springs and roll the guards. i think about an inch our of the hight would be good. Nice stiff ones, bugger movement in the suspension, the seat will smooth that out! Some 14" e30 steelies in black with the same chrome rims the 13"s i have will be in the works too. I Don't need new tires yet so I'm going to use these ones up first. i can't stand wasting tires, just letting them sit.

    Still waiting for the head...

    Cheers

    Small update:
I picked up some heat proof paint and gave the rocker cover and intake a coat of it.

This took soooooo long to clean, so many small bits to get into. Just what you need an old tooth brush for.

I got the head back! it will be on on saturday, fingers crossed...

Preview of what it will all look like

Had some paint left so i did the rad too.

    cheers

Got it doing right on saturday arvo, so good to have it back on the road. i had to take my 14x6s off as i have to roll the fenders much more then i thought i would. i also need much shorter tires, it's got 60 on it now but i will have to go down a bit. It was running really nice, and i even got a new temp gauge in to replace the broken one, i got my center tail light working and the motor was running near perfect. I'm a sucker for the sounds of an m10 with a weber on it

On sunday it was all good till i pulled up at the lights waited, went to pull off and it wouldn't move. pulled it out of first tried again, stalled, tried 2nd stalled by now i had all the cars behind me were beeping and going around me. I had to roll back and try to get it in gear. Finally it got into 2nd and drove it home like that. i've had problem with the syncros before but i think they finally had enough and died.

After 7 months of sitting waiting for parks for the motor i get it running for 12 hours till it's off the road again! mother f***er. I'll get it up on stands and have a look a it this weekend if i don't have to much uni work.

Any one know a good gearbox place in melbourne? they guy we used for the rally car took about a year to rebuild the 5 speed. it was really good but it took sooooooo long.

    cheers
