yeah the jetting is no worries, a single 45 will fuel it no worries, and it will provide more than enough airflow for a M10

Do you know anything about that car? It looks a lot like one my mechanic worked on years ago.

The red car was originally built up by my friend Richard, through the help of Simon Harrex at RX Automotive. It was well sorted and quite fast and was running 63s arund Lakeside.

A rare 235/5 close ratio 5 speed was also fitted. The car was later sold to Paul Tucker who has run it at Targa Tas at least a couple of times.

HAHAHAHA i'll have to tell Paul that he's known! I didn't think any one would know about how it used to be a racer not a rally car. She's a damn fast car, i haven't been in it for ages, but it just waiting to go again. It's now on 14" rims and the 15" might be for sale i'll check that. They are the same as the ones on it the photo. I was at the Targa tas that he first ran it.

The rare 235/5 close ratio 5 speed is for sale! PM me if you seriously interested in picking it up. I think there are 2 more 5 speeds for sale too. I'll have to check that.

I'll get some more photos of this car on the weekend if i get time.

    cheers

Hye dude, I recognise your car, did you have a big *almost!* through the grass at Targa last year that featured in the footage? One of the yanks on bmw2002faq.com posted a pic of the car, your car rings a bell...

As for the Lynx manifold, well I have been offered some pretty serious $$ for mine from the US. Good luck finding one in decent condition. Lynx said they were never going to make the manifold again. All the 2002 experts I have ever spoken to said I am sitting on a gold mine....

Do you have a copy of the photo? I'd like to have a look.

I'm still waiting to hear about from a guy in the US about one. If not there is just a normal (non-cross flow) manifold on ebay so i could get that. Or just run 2 carbis as that would be much easyer to a manifold for it. hmmmmmmmm

Well just a little update here. i have to pull the head off next weekend, as it has blow the head gasket. Oh what it shall be! Also going on will a new thermostat as the last one is rusted right up. I thought the water pump might have been gone too but it is back into action now.

The e21 rear drums are apart and just need new wheel cylinders and then what can go on. I will finally have a hand brake. No more bricks behind the wheels.

In other new i got the tape out to find out why the bonnet wasn't lining up. It turns out that it's 5mm shorter on the drivers side! hahahaha that explains a lot about the car now

I've also picked up the old front strut brace from the rally car but the downdraft is getting in the way so thats not doing anything till thats gone.

    Cheers

    Update!

Well after sending the head out to be fixed up, i have found out that it is pretty stuffed. The vale guides are worn out, the cam is stuffed from not being put in right last time around, the timing would have been out to. The water has also broken through the gasket and corroded out the bottom of the head. There was water in the motor for so long the timing cain was rusty! 2 of the 4 spark pug holes had been rounded out too. It's about $850 to $1k to fix.
(after it was cleaned up a bit.)

I'm going to start looking around to see if any one has a head they are willing tp part with for less then $850. It has to be in good condition not T.F. like the one i have.

In better new i have got rid of the boat wheel it had on there. I picked up a boss plate to put on the old race wheel that came off dad's old mk1 ford cortina dirt rally car. I also got the speedo going at the right speed now. it's got the wrong gear in the box and a MPH speedo. For some reason i got it to work almost to KPH! so when it shows 60mph it's going close to 60kph. strange car it is.

IF any one can help out with a head reply to this or PM me. Checking the wreckers tomorrow.

    cheers

    Bummer.

But think of it as an oppurtunity to get the head sorted out the way you want(valves, porting & polishing) etc.

If I was you, I'd replace the cooling system hoses as well. i've found with parts cars the rust settles in the bottom or low point of the hoses. It would be a shame to wash any rust through a rebuilt head.

I was thinking of getting it ported and polished. Now if i have to re-build it i may as well do it.

I've got an aluminum radiator that fell off the back of a truck. so i will get the cut down to i can fit it in the engine bay. It also came with thermo fans but they wouldn't fit in the bay either.

    cheers
