Agree the 1 \ 2 jz is an awesome engine but when it comes to resale you will lose so much more for using a diff engine.
Btw merc looks freakin awse

Hi Mark,
When you get used to the power of the stock 1JZ power (which you will, sooner than you think), I cannot recommend highly enough going the big single turbo route. The 1JZ has so much raw power you can unlock by doing this. The engine note changes from the smooth hum of a 6 Jap motor to a feckin roar like nothing you've ever heard. When the big turbo is boosting at 1.5 bar the power and sound is absolutely incredible.
With the strength of the W201 body and the (very wise) choice of a manual box you've got the perfect platform build on.
And for the 'resale value' guy, try not to see everything in purely financial terms, it will greatly limit your enjoyment of motoring (and most things in life). BTW, cars here (Thailand) with properly done engine swaps are far more desirable than standard cars.
Cheers,
INTJ.
I have nothing against engine conversions which use jap motors i am just pointing out the resale factor.
Yes i agree 1jz with big single on gate is up there with top noises from a car and is also a strong motor.

At the moment the clutch is really touchy and if you have never driven it before you will have difficulties on a gentle take off. I wasnt driving it the guy who is workin on my car was showing me my brake problem. Its got plenty of power to get over speed bumps.

Well done on the conversion! Looks like a good fit! My mate just dropped a 1jz into a Hilux... Went for the Large single turbo - Said he would never have twins on it..
Looking good! Keep up the good work!
Im picking this car up tomoz arvo. i sorted my insurance out today so i can drive it straight out the shop.....Well if the Wanker workin on it has done his work.......why is it when you question peoples work they seem to get shitty and become **** heads. But hopefully the last 7 months of agony and bullshit storys are worth it and ill have my baby home for me to finish all the work tomoz night and sunday so i can take to transport department monday and get it signed off... then straight to the dyno for some runs.
If any one in Qld is interested in knowing the dodgy shop and full story just pm me.
Cheers
