    Twin turbo 190E mercedes

Hey guys My car has been In shop for last 4 1/2 months with a couple of hold ups.
It started with a 4cyl 2L 8v, 5 speed. then i put the 4cyl 2.3L engine in but i was just not very happy so i thoght THATS IT! im goin the whole 9 yards.
Jumped on the phone got my self a 1jzgte 5 speed. sat down had a beer and waited for my boosted straight 6 to arrive.
The day came and my 2.3 was ripped out and sexyness started.

wow, nice conversion! what capacity and car is it out of? i know one of the toyo engines is notorious for blowing head gaskets. its worth your while installing a TRD gasket. my mates a mechanic and loves his jap stuff, and my brother has an 80's TT soarer

OK i guess if i look properley its a 2.5L...... from a soarer?

haha yeh 2.5L twinturbo straight 6. it is out of a soarer, they are also in the older supra's, same as your brothers im guessing. but they had a few engines in them.
Im only adding a front mount (hidden) and 3" exhaust system. so im not doing to much to push the stock parts to the limit.

i didnt look at the pics, and when i went over them i seen it was a 2.5, same as my bros. the 3L is the one to watch out for mostly, even stock, driven hard blows gaskets. it aint so bad in the 2500 but still something to watch. my bros is all stock, but running a little higher boost and its going fine for now. yours is manual so it shouldnt be as bad, but my bros is auto and its uber laggy in 1st.

o yeah the 2jz is the 3L true true. yeah the twin turbo set up is good for torque and im keepin the mercedes dif for now so i dont want masses of hp. but the 1j has nice potential with a single turbo conversion which i like.

great potential for sure. but like i said increasing HP will put stress on that gasket! my mate is a mechanic and a toyota nut and he's always in my bros ear bout it! the 5spd will be nice but in the auto its REALLY sluggish in 1st and only just hits boost a second before gear change. another mate of mine has the same soarer in 5spd and its dialed in for a bit of street drift. that goes really nice. lookin good, keep the pics comin

I think your thinking of the 7mgte or wateva it was that came out of the older supra. They were shit, and always blew head gaskets with more boost. The 1j's and 2j's are almost bulletproof! Ive herd of 600hp from unopened 1j's, all bolt on mods! U should b every pleased with the motor. Good to see someone gettin stuck into the merc's. Did u do the conversion or get someone to do it for u?

Yeah i think your right in saying the 7M. yeah 1j and 2j'z are dam tough.
the internals are over engineered so the potential of these motors is great.
Its getting done by some one else

Thats a hot conversion dude. Not normally a fan of those wheels, but your car actually makes them look good! Hope you got some decent suspension mods planned. This thing is a weapon.

Looks good Glad to see it coming long.

As mentioned above the 1jz and 2jz are very strong engines I know of people making 700hp atw's + on the std unopened 2jz's and I personally made 400hp atw's from my 1jz, but have heard numbers of up to 550rwhp on 1jz's also.

The 7MGTE is the head gasket killer. You are best off fitting solid head gasket and O-ringing the block on these engines. They do have lots of potential though.

With a std 1jz, keep the boost to under 1bar (14.7psi) and you should get soem decent power and longevity from the engine. I was running 16psi on my stock twins for 6 months np's before I removed them, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Its funny that no more than 2 yrs ago everyone would bagg you out for doing crazy conversions, but they now just seem to pop up even more.

Its looking sweet as...as the 190E would be the only Merc i'd actually consider buying out of any of them, but i love my E30's too much...

But either way keep up the good work, its going to be great when all these cars are finished and on the road!
