Thats awesome! The car looks great in person! Just need to hide that cooler somehow... Sounds like it would make an excellent daily driver and family car.
First full tank through the car, both highway and testing (much time spent WOT) and I got about 570klms for 68L. This works out on average 11.9L/100klms...
Must say I'm very impressed![]()

Cheers... Absolutely need to hide cooler. But that is a low priority atm. Once I have the A/C working etc I'll start having a look at glassing the front a bit.
Some little bits arrived today in order to tidy up the oil filter issue.
It took me a while to find a spin on 3/4-16 oil filter adaptor that had it's outlets 90degress to the filter axis to give me enough clearance to the ABS unit.
I'm happy with this solution and will mount the filter bracket towards the firewall behind the ABS unit.
This will necesitate the use of a hoist to change the oil filter, but I'm not too concerned with this I'll always have access to something to get under the car if need be
For those interested the parts are made by Permacool.
Spin on adaptor PC2791
Remote Oil filter bracket PC1711 (I think the other 'hand' input is PC1701)
Fittings are 1/2NPT.

Well finally pulled my finger out and spent some time asessing the BMW factory pump.
It's an intank style bosch pump, part number 0 580 464 995
I couldn't find any info on this and had my doubts of it's ability to flow enough fuel at 60+psi to my 440cc injectors.
Tested it at 12V for 15 seconds :-
60 psi 400cc
70psi 300cc
Now to put that into a real figure, the injectors are 440cc/min 6-off so I need 2640cc/min at may base fuel pressure 42psi + 18psi boost = 60psi.
The pump can only flow 1400cc/min at this pressure.. PROBLEM...
Anyways I had a little walbro knock off pump and I tested it same conditions and rig :-
60 psi 900cc/min
70psi 800cc/min
ie more then enough, so that pump now has residence in the tankPics to follow for those interested.
I have a new filter that will go on soon also, so hopefully that sorts the fuel system out![]()
Here are some pics...
Note:- look at all the crap inside the fuel tank under the pump filter? I syphoned all that rubbish out. Was amazing.
just spent 30mins smiling, i mean reading your progress to compleation story!
crazy stuff, sounds tuff![]()

So I guess you'll be on the next QLD cruise...
A pessimist is a man who thinks all women are bad. An optimist is one who hopes they are.
I'm just fine tuning atm... Where do you stop though :P
I have a boost controller on the way and will be fitting the Digital fuel adjustor, then I'll throw it on the dyno and tune for around 18psi... Based on other's with same mods on 2j's should see roughly250 ish RWKW's... Hopefully make it a bit more zippy
mrpayne, Will try and make it if I'm free![]()
Hey Ben, have you seen the latest Autosolan maganize??
It has an Orange E36 with 2jz in it, apparently making 435kw at the wheels, was built down in ACT, apparenty put $80 into it?? looks pretty good, although $80k sounds a bit much to put into a car though??
Also who did you order you remote oil filter through??

Nah, haven't seen it Wayno, I'll have to grab a copy though... $80k is feasible when you are using lots of gear and paying someone to do the work.
I'd be suprised if any workshop would do a std 2j swap into the E32 for less then $8-10k.
Then factor in good management $4k + a good turbo and manifold etc $3000, adds up all to quickly. I have mates who've spent $000's on fitting for pipies etc alone.
Filter parts were through Rocket.
Sounds and looks good Ben we will have to go for a cruise sometime.
190ETT Back soon
Well have given DFA the sideline and got an e-manage to put in. This will give me both fuel and ignition control and will allow me to log inputs etc, so much more fun then the DFA. I've had good success with the e-manage previously and a friend has one running some good numbers on his singled 2jz...
Just need to find the time to install it now...
